Description/Job Summary


Reports to Site Director

General Description
Contributes to company success by coordinating the people and processes involved in manufacturing. Ensure a safe environment which meets customer expectations, output and quality goals, while remaining within budget limitations. Balance the combination of management responsibilities with production floor time coaching and mentoring the staff of approximately 70 manufacturing associates guided by company policies and objectives.  Team player to perform related duties as required or assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities
Environmental, Health & Safety
  • Support development and implementation of safety programs and initiatives
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient day to day operation of the manufacturing floor
  • Participate in the Safety Committee process and ensure that assigned operations are performed consistent with Company and OSHA policies, practices and procedures
  • Assign and oversee all supervisory project work such as safety programs, housekeeping, etc
  • Develop and deploy manufacturing strategies in order to guarantee customer satisfaction
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers
  • Work with quality department and order areas to resolve customer complaints and production quality issues
  • Ensure that employees are properly trained
  • Oversee new and refresher training applicable to individual’s job requirements
  • Ensure that manufacturing procedures and work instructions are developed and that production employees have been trained to meets plant operations objectives
  • Build and deploy plan to reinforce or implement competences required to support business objectives
  • Ensure annual performance reviews and accountabilities are completed for each employee
  • Provide leadership and coaching to the plant personnel on continuous base
  • Ensure an environment favorable for continuous improvement initiative
  • Manage multi-cultural teams
Productivity/Cost Reduction
  • Responsible for the execution of a production schedule as developed with planning area to satisfy customer service requirements with respect to time, cost, and quality
  • Monitor performance to established efficiency and quality standards
  • Monitor expenses for area of responsibility and initiates corrective action as required.
  • Manage budget for assets and ensure that cost objectives are met
  • Establish process metrics and develop a system to achieve and maintain performance at targeted level.
  • Aggressively measure and improve upon all plant related KPI categories
  • Formulate long and short-range business plans and goals
Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze production operations and workflow and develop improvement recommendations
  • Direct process capability and efficiency efforts to reduce overall operating costs and improve plant operations
  • Lead corrective action and problem solving activities and participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Consistently evaluate resource levels and methods to improve productivity and/or reduce costs
  • Ensure production staff  is consistent with output objectives
  • Manages temporary staffing levels for the operation to achieve plant objectives for labor efficiency
  • Coordinate all maintenance activities related to manufacturing equipment and general plant structure
Skills and Education
  • Bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred)
  • Professional experience with Six Sigma, Lean, 5S, ISO
  • A proven track record (3-5 years) in management within a similar manufacturing business
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget
  • A proven leader capable of adapting and delivering change and improving manufacturing and company performance
  • Strong communication and team building skills
  • Technical experience related to the site’s manufacturing processes
  • Ability to manage production budgets
  • Experience operating, managing and implementing and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)- JD Edwards is a plus
  • Maintenance program (TPM preferred)
  • Experience with Automation Projects and Industry 4.0 is a plus
