Description/Job Summary

Position Basic Purpose:

As part of the Management team, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for all aspects of human resources for the Rochester location including recruitment & selection, compensation, benefits administration, employee relations, health & safety, training & development; employment related policies & procedures, performance management administration, payroll and legislated projects.

Main Accountabilities:

  1. Implement policies, procedures and programs in all areas of human resources including employee relations, compensation and benefits, employee development, training, health and safety.
  2. Facilitate internal training to employees and managers.  Develop training content and improve as required.
  3. Administer the performance management system and provide guidance to managers and employees on effective utilization of the process.
  4. Partner with corporate benefits team to administer benefit programs to employees within division.
  5. Ensure weekly payroll for the site is transmitted in a timely manner.
  6. Provide recommendations to management regarding compensation based on job match comparison and market data
  7. Take an active role in all health & safety issues within the organization and lead health & safety focused programs and projects
  8. Analyze quarterly accident statistics, accident reports, recommend appropriate corrective action, assign accountability and follow up on recommended/required actions
  9. Manage recruitment and selection of all required positions, including conducting interviews, reference checks and offer packages.
  10. Handle all employee relations’ issues to ensure equality is maintained and policies are utilized.
  11. Develop and implement employee programs including orientation, health and safety focused programs etc.
  12. Participate in regular Management meetings keeping Mersen apprised of Human Resources & Health & Safety initiatives, projects and monthly and yearly statistics.
  13. Organize company and social functions and coordinate employee recognition programs.
  14. Other projects as assigned.

Requested Knowledge, Competencies and Abilities:

  • BS in Business or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in a Human Resources Supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with integrated HRIS (Ceridian preferred)
  • Able to work in a matrix environment
  • Knowledge of current employment legislation
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines
  • Strong sense of urgency and customer service focus
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate legislation, statutes and legal requirements in a consultative manner
