Description/Job Summary

Basic Purpose of the Position:
Set up the CNC Turret Punch and support the production team by operating machinery, bending, punching or sawing of metal products as instructed by supervisors. Produce a variety of parts, all of which must meet the dimensional specifications of the mechanical engineered drawings.
Main Responsibilities:
  1. Operate the CNC Turret Punch and other machinery used in the production process, or assist other machine operators.
  2. Train new and existing operators.
  3. Do the majority of the set-ups for the turrets so that the operators can gain maximum run time efficiency.
  4. Work with programmer for maximum efficiency on turrets.
  5. Select proper die clearances based on material requirements.
  6. Set up tooling, load programs and set machine parameters to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.
  7. Determine condition of tools and point of re-sharpening.
  8. Re-sharpen punches and dies as needed.
  9. Work in a fast paced environment with fast changing priorities.
  10. Keep work area clean and organized.
  11. Follow all company rules and policies.
  12. Follow all safety rules and quality standards.
  13. Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.
  14. Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  15. Operate machinery used in the production process, or assist machine operators.
  16. Uphold all OSHA standards applicable to the responsibilities above.
Requested Knowledge, Competencies and Abilities:
  1. High school diploma or GED is required.
  2. 2+ years of experience operating the Trumpf or similar CNC Turret is preferred.
  3. Solid background working with sheet metal.
  4. Knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance.
  5. Ability to distinguish material types including Aluminum, Steel and Stainless Steel, Copper and Brass.
  6. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  7. Ability to read a caliper and height gage (ability to convert fractions to decimals and conversely decimals to fractions).
  8. Ability to read blueprints and have knowledge of engineered specified tolerances.
  9. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently.
