Manufacturing Process Engineer

General Description:

This position is responsible for conducting process initiation, improvements and production assistance to purification, SIC coating, and machining operations under the supervision of the Process Engineering Manager.  Also, will fully participate in and support the Mersen ISO 9001:2008 Quality System.

Exemplary Duties/Responsibilities:

Initiate and develop best practice manufacturing processes for graphite machined, furnace purification, and SIC coating applications as they relate to the products and services that Mersen offers.  Processes are developed, documented, approved through the engineering team.  It is the responsibility of Process Engineering to focus on improvements and efficiencies within the manufacturing operation. 

The Process Manufacturing Engineer will initiate and collect data, time study, analyze, and evaluate every form of product manufacturing processes and testing such as ICP, purity stress analysis, thickness uniformity in coating chambers, minimum and maximum temperature, pressure and flows, machining processes, etc.  The role will be responsible for production/process monitoring, improvement, processes documentation and training.

The Process Engineer will be knowledgeable and responsible for applying common sense best practices and lean tools to ensure robust and sustainable processes.  The role will require the candidate to identify problem root causes, lead corrective action implementations and provide sustainable solutions that eliminate reoccurrences.  The Process Engineer will also work with furnace purification processes to remove mineral property impurities that will have a detrimental effect on CVD, (chemical vapor deposition), coatings.  Collaborative interaction with colleagues, subordinates, superiors, clients, and suppliers is an imperative criteria for this position, as is the ability to work alone and make responsible decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

BS in Materials Science or Chemical Engineering. 2 - 5 Years of experience as a hands on Process Engineer. Preference given to candidates with CVD process experience.

Process Safety Management, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma experience in a contract manufacturing setting is a plus.

Experience with SiC on Graphite is desirable

Experience with PPAP, FMEA’s, PFMEA’s desirable
